Disco Dancer has landed

We traded in the X5 for a new Land Rover Discovery. Before we get comments - all new land rovers have a compulsory ClimateCase package so all C02 has been offset for first 45K miles and the entire manufacturing process.
All the boys like the various gadgets and keeps us quiet on long journeys. Landie also lets us off-road when we shoot and is very handy in the green lanes around the house. It's also great having 7 seats as we don't need two cars to ferry visitors around over the weekends. Lets hope ownership over the next few years is without incident!

Its that time again

Time to get out in the garden!

Lighter Nights

The clocks changed at the weekend which means it does not get dark to around 19:30hrs now. This means that for the next few weeks i'll be out of sync. When your busy at work during the winter months darkness is a sign it's around 4pm and you have a couple more hours to work! Now i've got to check my watch a bit more and remember to go home before it gets dark!

Highlights

I like this dramatic shot of a ferry between Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight highlighted by the sun streaking through a break in the low cloud

Weekend

Its the weekend. Find time to spend it with your friends and family. Have fun, relax and enjoy it!

Just for grins

One from the back catalogue. Had the pleasure of being invited as a guest of Nissan BTCC team during there winning years and had the opportunity to watch the race from the pit garage. During the mayhem of the race calm descended as everyone watched the monitors and in popped the pit crew. Obviously this guy was having a case of the grins!!

Pre-Retirement anyone?

Is this an alternative phrase for "still working a 40-hour week?"
Unfortunately, I am still in "pre-retirement" and with my commitments looks like i will not get to the next phase - "retirement" - for another 26 years

Taxi

Always the way - want a taxi and you can't find one then 7 turn up at once !!

Spring?

Last week we had glorious sunny weather. Today's been cold and then tonight all of a sudden, thunder and lightening and hail! Grabbed the little Pro-1 camera and managed to grab this shot. What you see is not snowflakes but hail! Strange weather we are having!

Two Great Adverts

I cheat today. The image is from the Sony Bravia TV ads that have been airing in the UK. The creative team got it right - great images and music. And what a fun idea - letting thousands of bouncy balls loose on the streets of San Fransisco. For a behind the scenes look (and listen) see http://www.bravia-advert.com/balls/

Oh, and if you want to see parts of Glasgow transformed into a mass of colour see the other ad Sony are showing at the moment http://www.bravia-advert.com/

Old vs New

OLD: Figureheads were used so that sailors who could not read could identify their own ship. I also think figureheads have there advantages when you've had too much "grog" and your vision is a little blurry. Far much easy to see this fine chap in the dark in the early hours of Saturday morning than trying to read some words on a ship that's bouncing up and down in the sea!

NEW: In the background is spinnaker tower, a new way to find Portsmouth in the UK. The tower stands 170 metres (557 ft in old money). There is a glass lift on the outside for those who like this sort of thing, for the rest of us, the internal lift is smooth and fast. Once at the observation decks you can see for miles over the English channel, the historic dockyard at Portsmouth, the south downs, isle of wight and on a good day, Chichester cathedral. Great for photos. http://www.spinnakertower.co.uk/

Take a moment

I find technology at times accelerates your life, but it's good to take a moment and appreciate what's around you.
