New addition to the family

Finally did it. I bought a 1 yr old 250cc enduro bike today. 1 yr old, only 15 hrs use and 280 miles on the clock. Dealers ex-demo bike. Dealer admitted he had probably had it on for too high a price - so a 10% discount, some handguards, free delivery (saving me a 40 mile round trip+ a van rental) and a new road legal exhaust and the jobs a good 'un! Everyone happy with deal. Good work.

So we are now a two-bike household!

Route Log from the bike

So i found sometime tonight to download the route log from the Garmin Zumo from Sunday's ride.

You can load the data back into Garmin's software and then export it to Goggle Maps!

It's great as i can locate some of the off road sections i did and with my newly acquired Ordnance Survey Map of Salisbury Plain i can now see where there a vehicular rights of way!

I feel a new route coming on with more off road sections!

The Germans have invaded....

...with a little help from the Americans!

If you look closely this is me heading southwest for 1.4miles down an unpaved road in the middle of Salisbury Plain. For those of you who don't know this is the main training area for the British Army. Not a great place to be riding a German motorbike! But thanks to Garmin (programmed by the Americans!) I ended up on this road.

It was great. The surface deteriorated and there were puddles all way across the road. So there was only one way to deal with it. Stand up on pegs and go for it. Bike coped well on the Metzeler road/touring tyre. They are groved, but only just.

Couple of other unpaved roads and will attempt to upload sat nav log and plot some more routes across the plain. Shelling permitting of course!

An afternoon in london

Had a few hours to myself so was at a loose end. What shall i do? Really want to get out on the bike but where shall i go? I know - quick blast up to London.

So left just before noon, legged it up M3 in the pouring rain, through chiswick, hammersmith, kensington, under hyde park, Piccadilly, around eros, down past design museum, IOD, Trafalgar square, down towards Buckingham palace (road shut), left into back of horse guards parade, into Parliament square, Whitehall, embankment towards the city, quick blat (avoiding traffic cops!), then over Waterloo bridge, stop for a quick photo at London eye, past st thomas's back over Thames and southwark bridge, left onto embankment and then a quick stop at Albert Bridge for a quick photo! Hop on bike, head past earls court, past twickenham etc to pick up M3. Didn't fancy the motorway so came off at bagshot, down through camberley, blackbushe airport, hook, odiham, Alton, then some single track country lanes before getting home 4hrs later, knackered, wet but grinning from ear-to-ear.

I'm looking for another bike! Love the GS Adventure and keeping it. Always a pleasure and its a dream to travel a long way on it someday. My ideal trip would be from Alasaka to Argentina! Maybe a chat to the Kevin and Julia at http://www.globebusters.com/ one day!

Looking for a small (ish) enduro/motorcross bike. Challenge is what to buy - 'onda, KTM, Beemer, Husky? Problem is you can't go to one place and try them all. Nearest Honda off-road centre is 50 miles from home. I just don't have the time to get around all the places. Ho hum. Hopefully figure it out soon and get to play in the lanes and mud around home
